Btw, I'm starting again and want to do a couple of proxy topsites or something to that effect to promote my own sites.

Which script do you guys suggest I use, bearing in mind the fact that I'm gonna rely on SEO for traffic to this site?
Or should I use wordpress?

If you are setting up proxy topsites, I would recommend http://www.proxypromo.com/

It is well used by lots of proxy topsite owners, script cost $54. However they have affiliate programs so if you join their program you can get it much cheaper. With that said I remember she offered a 50% discount to DP members before, you can check out her threads on DP, user: shadey.

The problem with that is I think its Ioncube encoded, although I'm not sure but it says on the site ioncube loaders required. So there is no way you could customize it or build upon it to make it better.
I would never buy encoded scripts for this reason, sometimes I may want to edit it.

Yeap what Dollar said is right, the script is enocded in ioncube. My main concern if I were to use that script is if ever one day I get more than 10k visitors to my proxy list, it could cause high server load and RAM usage due to it being encoded. Faced such an experience when I was getting about 5k visitors daily to one of my proxies using Happy Proxy Ioncube script then and that maxed out 2gigs of RAM. No joke..

My listing site got so many spam these days..
This means, my site has been widely uses by most proxy owner..

How do you guys go about promoting the toplist site.

Offering it on the dp freebies section as a free submission is an obvious choice.
What other techniques do you guys use?

I plan on trying SEO, but I'm slightly pessimistic since the site wont contain much 'content' for the search engines to index.

On topsites, you can write content for on-page optimization. SEO does not rely just on on-page optimization which involves SEO copywriting. On-page optimization can only bring you so far, the rest really relies on off-page optimization such as link building, article submissions etc.

Even with just 1-2 page website slapped on a keyword domain, its possible to achieve it's desired keywords with SEO though that depends on how competitive the keyword is. But generally its still possible to rank for pretty competitive keywords with a website with just 1-2 pages of content.

With that said, never neglect on-page optimization, if done well it can give you a huge boost in the SERPs. Many competitors fail to realize the potential of on-page optimization. Most of my sites alone do great on-page with very little as low as 5% off-page optimization yet I rank top 3 spots across many competitive keywords such as "Watch ..." Combined with more off-page optimization, no doubt I would be ranking #1. Good Luck!

Yea my domain is indeed keyword rich a quite old too.
