Firefox anonymity
EDIT: solved at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic....8&t=742305 (sorry to bother, feel free to bin the post)
Hi all! I've been trying desperately to find some program (or at least a tweak) to be able to surf anonymously with firefox. Problem is every piece of software i've found so far tries to do too much and accomplishes too little, generally degrading my browsing. I'm behind a router with perfect grc.com stealth score, so i don't need a proxy per se, much less a firewall bundle including anti-spyware + memory scanning + file encryption + whatever (you know the kind - when software developers with low competitive products, decide they could make an award-winning application by combining all their mediocre ones lol). What i could use is a way to fake browser headers and prevent referrer logging. Is this possible within firefox (not torpark)? Also is there any other simpler way of masking an IP without having to redirect traffic through semi-anonymous, semi-safe, slow and unreliable proxies? I mean, i'm not the expert on this issue and i'm sure there must be a lot of decent free proxies out there for those who know where to look, but i haven't been that lucky. Can you help me out? |

RE: Firefox anonymity
Bear in mind that though proxies use encrypted URLs, if the proxy webmaster is malicious they can actually find ways to decode say for example when you type in your password to login to a myspace or hosting account through a proxy. That is why I use my own personal proxy when it comes to accessing such accounts.
With that said, you may surf anonymously in a proxy but if the police request to check the logs say someone sent a murder threat through the proxy, the police can actually view the logs and find out who you are.

Nope, you clearly need to understand IP protocol better. The IP you have is the one you have on your PC. The only way to change it routing your traffic threw a proxy. You can you use a SSH socksv5 proxy, VPN, web-based proxies, and TOR. |
